Dr. Modupeola Akinjolire, DNP, APRN- CNP, PMHNP- BC, often called “Mo-Du-Pe” was born and raised in Lagos, in the southwestern region of Nigeria, West Africa, where my humble beginnings and intentional, hardworking parents shaped my values, resilience, and commitment to service. With more than 14 years of nursing experience across Nigeria and the United States, I have built a career grounded in compassion, cultural awareness, and a deep dedication to patient-centered care.

My educational journey began at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Nigeria, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, thereafter I pursued a post- basic diploma in critical/intensive care nursing at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, Abuja, Nigeria. After relocating to the United States, I advanced my training with a Master of Science in Nursing in Case Management from the University of Arkansas Grantham, Little Rock, Arkansas. I later completed a Post-Master’s Certificate as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at Purdue University Global and obtained my Doctor of Nursing Practice at the same institution to be a doctoral prepared nurse practitioner.

I am licensed both as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in Indiana and a certified nurse practitioner (CNP) in New Mexico, hold a Compact RN license, and maintain prescriptive authority and DEA licensure in both states. I am board certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and as a Case Management Nurse (CMGT-BC). I am fluent in English, Spanish, and Yoruba, which allows me to connect and serve diverse patient populations.

My clinical experience spans acute inpatient psychiatry, crisis stabilization, substance withdrawal management, case management, critical care, home health, and telepsychiatry. I have worked in diverse settings where I demonstrate my expertise in improving patient’s outcome, and currently  providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychotherapy, and integrated mental health care across lifespan, with emphasis on adult and geriatric clients through both telehealth and hybrid models.

My passion for mental health was born from witnessing the profound gaps in care among underserved communities, where individuals whose struggles often go unnoticed or untreated. This drives my commitment to delivering accessible, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based psychiatric care. I believe in empowering patients, advocating for equity, and fostering healing through trust, education, and collaboration.

Outside of my professional life, I cherish spending time with my family. I am happily married to a U.S. Air Force Officer, and together we are raising three beautiful children. I enjoy reading, dancing, cooking, exploring new places, and embracing new adventures that enrich my perspective and bring balance to my life.
