Emma is a social worker, psychotherapist, artist, activist, mother, and proud Burqueña. She began her studies in art and sociology at Colorado College. During this time, she interned with an art therapist in Chicago, supporting women experiencing homelessness. This experience deeply shaped her commitment to community care and the creative process within a therapeutic setting.
After fifteen years in maternal-child health and Ayurvedic care, Emma earned her MSW from NMSU. During graduate school, she continued community-based research and advocacy while interning with families of young children, learning attachment-based models of therapy and dyadic interventions.
Emma brings a diverse clinical background to her practice. She is trained in IFS, Advanced Perinatal Mental Health (PSI), and Motivational Interviewing, and holds certificates in somatic ecotherapy, trauma-informed practice, and Trust-Based Relational Intervention. She currently collaborates with statewide initiatives focused on co-creating responsive systems of care for our most impacted community members.
Rooted in cultural humility, trauma responsiveness, and client-centered values, Emma works to cultivate a space for both deep exploration and practical support. She loves to investigate the little intersections and contradictions of everyday life for unexpected insights.
