Fizz Ehlert-Perkal

Hi there,

I’m Fizz (they/them) and I’m a community organizer, doula, and licensed social worker born and raised on Tiwa Land (Albuquerque, NM). I graduated from the Facundo Valdez School of Social Work at New Mexico Highlands University with a Bilingual, Bicultural concentration.

I understand empathetic connection to be central to healing and I strive to create a warm and trusting relationship with clients. I find this makes it possible for clients to explore their identities and process difficult experiences. My goal is to support clients in healing, finding inner balance, and creating meaningful relationships in their lives.

My therapeutic approach is informed by Internal Family Systems (also known as “parts work”). Using IFS, I support clients in getting to know themselves and deepening their ability to access compassion, curiosity, and calmness. I draw on humor, direct communication, active listening and creative approaches to help clients meet their goals. I also use DBT-informed skill work, attachment theory, and sand tray to support clients in building resilience, accessing embodiment, and building a secure attachment with themselves. I recognize the impact of social, cultural, racial, and gender dynamics on clients’ sense of self and worldview. My work is informed by Health at Every Size (HAES), disability justice, and harm reductionist approaches.

I enjoy working with parents, adolescents, autistic and neurodivergent folks, LGTBQ+ folks, and people who struggle with depression, PTSD, relationship conflicts, and childhood trauma. When I’m not with clients, I enjoy cooking, hiking, and making delightfully bad puns!
