Gena Lawson (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC, NCC) based in Albuquerque, New Mexico (unceded Tiwa land). She works with adolescents and adults navigating a wide range of experiences, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity and spiritual/existential exploration, attachment, and trauma. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is central to her clinical practice, and she brings specialized training in this approach to her work with clients ready for real, skills-based change.
Gena’s style is warm, collaborative, and relational. She creates space for clients to explore honestly while building the skills and self-awareness they need to live more fully. Her approach is integrative, grounded in mindfulness and a genuine belief in each person’s capacity for growth.
Gena holds a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from New Mexico Highlands University and is currently pursuing her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of New Mexico. She is committed to practicing with cultural humility and creating a welcoming, equitable space for all clients. When she’s not in session, you can find her spending time with family and friends, listening to or playing music, and exploring New Mexico’s natural beauty.
