Jennie Ackerman (she/her) is an intern and a 2nd year clinical mental health counseling student at New Mexico Highlands University. She is passionate about holistic treatment of her clients and creating a safe and supportive atmosphere in which to explore their challenges and concerns. Before attending NMHU, Jennie received a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Ithaca College in New York, as well as earning her licensure for teaching grades K-12. She has worked for Albuquerque Public Schools as a primary school teacher for the past eight years. She lives with her partner of 10 years and her three small dogs. She loves caring for and fostering senior animals.
