Tasia (Asdzaa/She/Her) is from Haystack, New Mexico. She attended New Mexico State University where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, and Western New Mexico University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Master’s degree in Social Work and two certificates in Rural and School Social Work. Tasia is a first-generation college graduate and is a proud Dine woman with over 12 years of experience in the areas of behavioral and mental health working with rural
communities, justice involved individuals, indigenous communities, and public education. She is a trauma informed trainer for criminal justice professionals, First Aid/CPR, and QPR. Her work is rooted in Hozho, a Dine belief that emphasizes balance, harmony and order. She is trained in Sand Tray, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, Restorative Justice, CCSS, and Social Emotional Learning. Tasia serves on the N.M. Hispanic Education Advisory Council after being appointed by the NM Secretary of Education in 2023 and serves as an equity facilitator for the New Mexico Public Education Department. She is a long-distance runner, adventure seeker, lover of books and coffee.
